The story about the Erzetič family from Višnjevik, known to the locals as “at Martins”, has long been closely associated with vine growing and the wine trade. The first documentary reference to the household name dates back to 1725, when the homestead was established by the first owner of the house by the name Martin. They have remained true to the land of Brda, its charm and vivacity being captured within the grapes, used for the production of an excellent variety of wines. The experience and wise judgement of the winegrowers from the Martin homestead are what keep the tradition alive and its wine growing methods up-to-date. A speciality from the Erzetič Winery is wine aged in oak and barrique barrels. Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Gris, Rebula and Chardonnay are bottled using bottles which are called amphoras due to their similar shape. Hence the name for the type of bottling called amphora. Beside the above wine varieties, they also bottle a new wine called Mladivo, made from Merlot and an old variety called Lekante.
